Weekly Finds

I think I've mentioned on the blog a time or two or ten that the husband and I live in a home built in the 1930's.  While it has abundant character it is very low on storage space.  This gives me the excuse to fully embrace my container storage system addiction.  The husband lovingly calls it the basket system, since lots of my containers happen to be baskets.

Last week one of my work BFFs and I took a lunch time shopping trip.  Look at this lovely gem I found at Ross.

The bonus?  It was 12 bucks and some change and it's huge!

I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it when I picked it up and had to have it, but it quickly came to me.  Enter my books to read bin in my bedroom which was then stashed in my Thirty-One storage bag that I like to use for the beach.

It is very cute and helpful large tote, but it didn't look very stylish under my dressing table.  It looked as if I had been reorganizing my room and was tired of my books falling off the shelf of my TV table; so I stashed them in this tote because it was handy and slid it under my dressing table until I could come up with something better.  Oh, wait.  That is what happened.  And it looked it.

Ahh, now it looks like I am maximizing my storage space with coordinating accessories.  I like this better.  Plus this container has firmer sides so it is easier to pull out to browse for my next great read.

Don't you just love organizing?

Weekly Finds

I was looking for a place to get some fantastic prints and my BFF (who also happens to be a photographer) recommended mpix.com.  She is one smart lady.

I really wanted a place to order my favorite wedding picture in a pretty large size for our home.  I figured before I committed to the price of a very large picture, I might as well see what they could do with some small pictures. Behold new office art.

Vacation photos: Venice, Pisa, Arizona

I love them.  They are printed on canvas.  mpix calls these gallery wraps and I think they are fantastic!

They make my office a very happy place.

I was so impressed and in love with the quality of their work that I ordered my wedding print.

The husband and I have been married for almost five years and I have been wanting this for that long.  I love this picture from our special day.

Yay.  If you are in the market, check out mpix.  Their shipping time is also VERY impressive.

Have you made any lovely finds this week?

Weekly Finds

Over the weekend the husband and I started the gigantic task of cleaning out the garage.  As it turns out I found lots of treasures hidden in said garage.  There were two boxes tucked in the back that were from one of my grandparents' moves.  It was packed away in the 80's and forgotten about.  It sure was fun to discover it.

I found vintage bar tools,

a crystal shot glass,

a very fancy toothpick holder,

a china coffee cup and saucer,

and a china coffee service set.

The effort to uncover them from years of grime and dirt was completely worth it.  Work gloves are my friends.

I have been looking for some fun pieces to finish the shelf over the bar cabinet in our dining room so a lot of my discoveries already found their place in my home.

I think it is a pretty good improvement.  I really like the pops of color on the shelves.

Yesterday was my mother's birthday and my sister sent her these sunflowers.

I couldn't resist snapping a picture...they are so happy.

Have a fabulous day!!

Weekly Finds

As you might have noticed from Monday's post, I am very proud of the husband for completing the BP MS 150 over the weekend.  It should be no surprise that something MS 150 related is part of my weekly finds this week.

I picked up a frame and matte for Daniel's completion certificate at Michael's yesterday.  I love how easy craft stores make it to frame a special document.  I also grabbed some fun ribbon and a scrapbook bicycle to make even more special for my hubby.

He was very touched when I gave it to him last night.  I was happy.

Way to go Dano.

Another find for the week came right out of my closet.  I love it when I find things I have forgotten about.  Thanks to a closet clean out, I came across this weekly calendar that I had purchased as a Christmas present for my mother that she did not need.  I had intentions of returning it, but clearly that didn't happen.

It's a cute little calendar that I am now putting to work at the office.  I like to jot down tasks that I work on each day that are not on the to-do list so I can know where my time goes during the week.

It's a handy way of keeping track especially when the boss wants updates.

I hope your week is treating you well.  Did you make any fun finds this week?

Weekly Finds

This week I found 3 cans of rust-oleum spray paint in my garage.  I bought them back when we were remodeling the kitchen and had visions of what I could do with the old patio furniture I had inherited.

Last weekend those visions finally came to fruition.  I had these three chairs that went with a long gone table left from the clean out of my mother's garage.

I like these chairs okay...the flower detail is fun, but I have never been a fan of the color.  Enter rust-oleum.

Huge difference!

I used two cans and refinished 3 chairs and one table.

It was so easy!  I threw a drop cloth down in my backyard and got to spraying.  These are just a single coat and it dried pretty quickly.

I put the furniture back in place the same evening.  Simple as can be.  I was on the verge of wanting to replace this table and now I am a-okay with it.

I was honestly a little intimidated by spray paint...I felt like I couldn't control it, but it was so easy and not very messy at all (I still wore my painting clothes, of course).  If you were holding back on trying the spray paint thing...don't!  It's super easy!

Have a fabulous Wednesday!!

Weekly Finds

The husband bought me a print of this amazing painting last weekend.  It was painted by Elizabeth Cencini a fabulous Houston artist that is showing a lot of her work over at Style Cycle in the Houston Heights right now.  I fell in love with this painting and if my tax refund check had been larger maybe I would have bought the actual oil on canvas, but my print is fantastic as well.

The painting is called prelude to tango and I love it.  The girl in the painting drew me in originally with her great eye shadow and the passionate look on her face.  I love the blue and green in the painting...it reminds me of what the husband and I wore in our engagement pictures.

Have a mentioned the colors go perfectly in my bedroom?

Elizabeth's art will be on display at Style Cycle through May 4, 2013...go check it out!

It is well worth the trip!

Have a great day!!!

Weekly Finds

The lamps that I had been wanting for the side board in the dining room found me last week while I was in Target.  I stopped in to pick up a birthday present for the nephew and I was cutting back through the store to check out via the lamp aisle and there they were.

Hello lovelies.

They were on sale for 25 bucks including the shades which I think is a great deal for a cute lamp and I used my Target card and got 5% off.  I like the 5% off at Target.

I picked up the cute tassels at Hobby Lobby for three dollars each.  I love a pretty tassel on a lamp.

I organized my jewelry box over the weekend and and found these two gems that I decided needed to hang on wall above my bedside table.

I think they compliment what I already had on the wall nicely.

Two great quotes.

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Enjoy your Tuesday!
