Weekend (and more) Recap

Wow!  Life has been a little crazy here so I have been letting the dogs blog for me for almost 6 weeks.  That's a long time.  Here's what I have been up to...

The husband and I road tripped to Hattiesburg, MS.

As you might know, we have family that lives there.  This trip was special because this beautiful girl was taking her first communion.

That's our niece/God daughter Chelsie, isn't she a cutie?

Trixie helped her dad barbecue for Memorial Day weekend.

We had friends over to enjoy all the delicious food.

It was a great time.

The next weekend Dave and Rachel got married.

You might remember them from David and Aerin's wedding post, that's where I got this great picture of the happy couple.

My sister and nieces came to visit.  I love seeing them as often as possible, so I always love when they come visit.  We had lots of fun that included a trip to the Downtown Aquarium.

I hadn't been to the aquarium in a long time and I had never been on the train that takes you through the shark tank.

Definitely a very cool perspective.

I also didn't know there was a white tiger at the aquarium.  Seemed a little out of place to me, but what a gorgeous animal.

I was happy to see her, but at the same time I felt a little sad for her.  The more I work with animal rescue the more I think about animal rights and welfare.  I thought she looked a little sad and lonely hanging out with everyone looking at her.  I am sure she is well taken care of, I just can't get over the feeling that a wild animal in captivity isn't happy.

This fiber glass version of her seemed just fine.

Chelsie was the only one on board with acting scared.  I love her scared face.

Around the house there has been lots of snuggling,

a little photo-bombing,

and lots of playing.

Sammy and Bauer are completely in love.  We couldn't be happier with having Bauer home with us.  I can't imagine not having him here.  He's dear.

I have been busy at home as well.  I have some new chairs and this awesome print from Sammy and Bauer's session with Mary Pasicatan Photography

I have some little projects to share...

...and some big ones.

I am looking forward to sharing it all with you soon!

Weekend Recap

I did tons of yard work this weekend!  What a great workout, my arms are so sore!  Manual hedge trimmers for the win.  Besides a Friday dinner date with the husband and a trip to Michael's and Home Depot my weekend was all yard work, spring planting and taking pictures!!  I snapped some good ones of my Easter decorations.  Let's take a look.

Here is a revisit to the Easter mantel with a much better picture.  This collection is a mixture of items from well, everywhere.  The hurricanes on each end belonged to my parents and have spent many many years on this very mantel.  The small canvas of flowers also belonged to them, so it is from the same era.  I mostly said era to tease my mother.  Hi, mom.  :)  I believe they were all wedding gifts which dates them back to the late 60's.  My mom always had tapered candles in them, but I like to mix it up.

The W I picked up at Hobby Lobby a while back.  The bunnies on the right joined the Ema's Easter Decor Collection last year and I found them at Pier 1.

The bunny in the center is new to the party this year.  He came from the Lucky Rabbit in Hattiesburg, MS.  I love that place.

The eggs on the left I grabbed on sale at Pier 1 a couple of years ago.  And I just noticed my candle is crooked.  Awesome.

My coffee table has a large jar candle on it, so I put some pastel eggs in the bottom of it.

Watch out for cat laser eyes...they are dangerous.

This candle looks crooked, but in my defense it is burning unevenly, so this one is technically not my fault.  The fact that the candle holder is from Pier 1 might come as shock to you.  I hope you were sitting down.

In the dining room there are more bunnies.

On the left I have a long legged bunny that was my mom's.  He is not from the 60's.  He stands crooked, and I like it.  I have a theme working.  The bowl was my parents, I believe originally my grandmother's, so it is even older than the 60's.

On the opposite end, another bunny.  This one from Marshall's Home Goods from several years ago.

The flowers and the balls in the bowl are from Pier 1.  I sure hope you were sitting that time.

My last bit of Easter is on my breakfast room table.  This might be my favorite of all.

Tray (and coasters) from Willow House, bunny from Pier 1, bird from Trees and Trends (Hattiesburg, MS), candle and holder from Target, vase from Crate and Barrel, and the eggs from Hobby Lobby.

Yes, this is my favorite Easter grouping.  I am sure of it now.

Tomorrow on the blog...flowers!  Along with a tour of my patio decked out for spring.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Weekly Finds

Have I ever confessed to you how much I love Hobby Lobby?  Well, I do.  I really, really do.  They have great prices on their home decor items and they have great sales all the time.  The sister-in-law needed to go this weekend and I selflessly volunteered to tag along.  You know for moral support.  I was happy to sacrifice myself for her.  It should surprise no one that I came home with several cute items.  They are so cute, that I don't even have a favorite.  Let's take a look, shall we?

This might be the cutest lamp in my entire house.  I love the burlap texture of the shade and the little flowers.  So cute.

The picture frames were 50% off, so I came home with two.  It just made sense...kind of like a buy one get one free situation.

This bird was also 50% off, so he had to come home with me.

I mean he's wearing a crown for crying out loud. I needed him. Hmmm...it might be a fancy girl bird and not a boy. I'll have to get back to you on that.

Now what did I do with all these treasures?  The only thing that I had already found a place for in my mind when I made my purchase was the lamp, so we will start there.  The red picture frame found it's location alongside the lamp.

Where is this magical space you ask?

At the end of my blue hallway of course.

The blue picture frame found its home on the windowsill in my bathroom.

And finally my fancy yellow bird landed on my coffee table.

Everything, but the lamp was on sale.  I spent less than 100 bucks, in fact it was even closer to 80 than to 100.  I was pleased.  Have you made any wonderful finds for your home lately?

There may have been a little wine consumed during the making of this post.  :)

In other very exciting news the spring outfit that I blogged about with my new top from ModCloth is making its debut today.  Yay spring!

It figures that the only full length mirror in our home is in the husband's den.  Makes for exciting outfit pictures where I look like I have antlers.  Lol.

Have a lovely day!

Weekend Recap

The weekend involved some Houston Rodeo, some girl time, a hair cut, some shopping, and some decorating.  Yay.

I decorated my mantel for Easter.  Do you do any decorating for Easter?

I am not sure I am finished with the mantel yet.  I still feel like it needs to be rearranged or needs something more.  I love my little bunnies that I got last year at Pier 1.  The wooden bunny in the center is new this year.  I picked it up in Hattiesburg at The Lucky Rabbit.

I had to snap a picture of Sammy relaxing.  I thought she looked like she had a question.

Turns out she does.  She wanted to know if you had noticed the new Red Collar Rescue links on the right side bar of the blog.

It links to all the guest bloggers and also the other adoptables that haven't blogged yet. Please check them out, especially if you or someone you know is looking for a new pet.  There are lots of lovable dogs and cats that need homes out there.

Tomorrow on the blog are the Weekly Finds from my shopping trip this weekend.  Yay!  Here is a little preview.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend!
