About Me

Hi!  I'm Emily, but you can call me Ema.

I'm a wife, dog/cat mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend...here are some of the amazing people that make me who I am today...

Random Facts About Me:

I love writing and sharing my life with you guys...I am so glad you are here!

The husband and I moved into our first house last year and I am still having lots of fun decorating!  Our biggest project was renovating the kitchen.

I met the husband playing darts.  We were both in the Houston dart league (don't play us for money).  The first thing he ever said to me is, "I'm not losing to the likes of you."  He lost (at least that game of darts).

I am trying to make permanent changes in my life that will result in weight loss.  I have finally reached a point where I don't consider myself "on a diet".  I am making better choices and watching how they result in great changes.  I have seen it work before.  The hurdle I am conquering now is making the habits stick.

before 75 lb loss

After 75 lb loss

Over the past few years I have gained about 52 of those 75 lbs back.  I admit that and I am no longer going to cry and eat about it...I am going to do something!  I re-joined weight watchers and I am tracking all my food.

after 52 lb gain...new before :)

I love to shop and find bargains.  I have started a new weekly post on Tuesdays about my finds over the week.  I seem to always have something to share, sometimes too much.

I love to cook and be creative in the kitchen.  I see recipes as idea suggestions more than directions to follow.  I don't think I have ever followed one exactly unless I have been baking.  I usually don't measure spices and things when I am cooking, but I am trying to get better about that so I can create good directions for my recipe page.  You will still find that I use the term to taste...a lot.

I have two fur-babies.  A dog named Sammy and a cat named Trixie.  They never appear on the blog and I never take pictures of them.

Oh, wait.  Strike that.  Reverse it. :)

The husband and I are at the beginning of our journey to parenthood.  I recently had surgery to remove fibroid tumors from my uterus and dealt with the news that our journey might be a very bumpy one.  I have started sharing details about that journey on the blog and I am so touched with all the wonderful feedback I have received, especially from moms sharing the bumps in the roads of their journeys.  It is nice to not feel defective or alone.  I will continue to share my stories here.

I watch Friends re-runs daily.  Every night while I am falling asleep and in the middle of the night if I need my mind to stop racing.  I own all the seasons on DVD and watch them in order over and over.  The husband loves it.  If he says he doesn't, he is lying.

I am both handed.  I do random things with random hands...like write with my right, eat with my left, use scissors with my right, brush my teeth with my left.  For some things I am completely ambidextrous.

I have only been out of the country 3 times and two of those times I went to Mexico.  I am VERY excited about our trip to Italy later in the spring.

Phew, that was a lot.

I hope you find some fun things here and possibly an idea or two.  If you have comments, questions or feedback please share them below; or contact me at: EmaDW@emasgrandideas.com

Thanks for visiting!
