Wagita y Abuelita

My mom is in town.  If you have been reading the blog a while you know that when my mom is in town she stays with the husband and me.  The husband loves this, just ask him and he will tell you.

My mom is a Sammy lover.  She calls Sam her grand-dog and when Wags came home there was an adjustment period for Sammy.  During this adjustment period (from Mississippi) my mother decided that she was not Wags' biggest fan since she was impacting the life of her grand-dog.

Challenge: Score Foster Granny - Accepted!

As you can see Sammy's life has truly been turned upside down.

A playmate...the horror.

I don't blame mom for defending her grand-dog; it was a little rough going when Wags first came home.  Just ask all the Red Collar Rescue volunteers that I harassed for advice, but I knew we could make this work.

Success.

My mom has been home a week now and during that week I have noticed something.  Wags is being included in grandma/grand-dog rituals, like the morning milkbone after breakfast.

"A morning milkbone?  Yes, please to give us one."

This morning I was in the bathroom doing my hair and I overheard my mom talking to the dogs in the kitchen.  (Yes, we talk to the animals in our house; no, it is not weird.)  I can't remember what she was discussing with the pups, but what I did hear was Wagita.

"Yo soy Wagita."

And with that granny granted nickname Wags calls her mission complete; one foster granny scored.

I couldn't help but text this news to my friend and Red Collar Rescue volunteer, Sophie.  She responded with awe, Wagita has an Abuelita!  Yes, I think she does.

If you would like to meet Wags, aka Wagamuffin, aka Wagita, you can email Red Collar Rescue at info@redcollar.org.

Hasta Luego!

Wag, Wag, Wags

Hey Houston peeps...Red Collar Rescue is having an adoption event on Saturday (October 26) from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Heights PetSmart (1907 Taylor St.).

Guess who will be there for you to meet!?

"Who?"

She's so silly.  Wags, it's you!

"Me!!!!"

Wags will be there with her trademark ears.  I love those ears.

I made a little collage to put on her crate along with the details RCR puts up about her so everyone can see her at home.

Truth.

She'll be a great addition to someone's family.

"It's exhausting being this adorable."

So, spread the word and help us find Wags' forever family!

The amazing photos in this post were provided by the fabulous BH Studios.

Weekly Finds

I mentioned in yesterday's post that while we were in Hattiesburg this weekend we did a little shopping at Trees and Trends.  They had all their fall and Halloween decor on sale for 40% off.  I love a good sale and I love fall decorations.  Here are my finds during my shopping trip.

I got this cute sparkle Boo! sign for my front door and added a black burlap bow.  I love it.  I also picked up a wooden jack-o-lantern for my front porch.

I think it will make my house a fun place for trick or treaters to visit.

I had to have these two whimsical metal jack-o-lanterns as well.

Aren't they fun?  I am enjoying them inside by my fireplace right now, but I think they will hang out on the front porch with us on Halloween night.

I love them.

I bought a cute bird finial and pottery pumpkin.  I am not sure where these two guys will eventually live, but I am currently enjoying them on my kitchen counter.

I love how the pumpkin has a wired stem that you can move; and bonus it has a fall leaf at the end of it.

Have you made any wonderful finds recently?

We are still looking for a forever home for our foster pup Wags.  She is dreaming of her forever family.

Isn't she sweet?  If you know anyone looking for a very snuggley fur baby Wags is adoptable through Red Collar Rescue.

She'd be very happy to meet you!

Weekend Recap

I had a fantastic weekend!!  The husband and I road tripped to Hattiesburg so he could cook in a BBQ competition and I could have girl time with my sister and nieces.  We pulled in around 2:00 am on Friday morning while everyone was sleeping, but we still got a warm welcome.

Our nieces rock.

Girl time on Friday started with a field trip.  Who doesn't love a good field trip?

My sister and I went with Chelsie and all the second graders to the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel, MS.  We looked at their collection of pastels and the kids got to create their own.  Afterward we picnicked at a very cool park.

The weather was fantastic!  It was a great day for a picnic.  I adore the pine trees in Mississippi; it could be the reason they call it the pine belt.  Hmmm.  :)

Saturday morning we spent a rainy day at the soccer field and then went shopping!  I picked up a bunch of cute fall and Halloween items on sale at Trees and Trends.  Have you ever been to Trees and Trends?  I love that store and wish we had one in Houston.

Little shopping score preview.

Tomorrow I will give you more details on all my shopping finds.  We also made stops at Dillard's, Target, and Hobby Lobby.  My sister and I can always have fun shopping.

The girls never find us embarrassing.

I love love love these girls!

Lindsey, Courtney, Chelsie...I poofy heart you three.

Sammy does too.

I love spending time in Hattiesburg.  It is really nice to take a break from Houston and spend time in a smaller city.  It is so relaxing.  Plus, fall is one of my favorite seasons and that just makes it even better.

The bonus?  The husband's brisket placed 5th out of 25 in the Downtown BBQ Showdown.  Way to go Daniel!  Not bad for a first time competing in a BBQ competition.

I hope your weekend was just as wonderful!  Enjoy your Tuesday.

Sweet Wags

Wags is still waiting patiently for her forever home.  Do you know anyone who needs a snuggle machine?

"Please to open this gate and give me the snuggles."

Wags is a lucky rescue of Red Collar Rescue in Houston.  If you want to meet her you can email them at info@redcollar.org.

I promise she will faithfully snuggle you for the rest of her life.

Weekend Recap

Phew!!  It has been crazy here.  I have missed all of you so much!  It was a great weekend.  We kicked it off with a little live music on Friday.

We saw Gary P Nunn at Blanco's.  It was kind of goodbye occasion, Blanco's is closing in a couple of months.  It has been around a long time and it is weird that it will be gone soon.

On Saturday one of the BFFs Rebecca had the ladies over for a pumpkin painting party.

And paint pumpkins we did!

There was also some mod podge going on.  I love how the fall leaf pumpkin turned out.

I adore this chest that Rebecca has in her living room.

Doesn't it look fantastic decked out for Halloween?  Love.

There was also a lot of snuggle time this weekend.

Check out how great Sammy and Wags are getting along!  Wags is our foster pup that I introduced you to a few weeks ago.  She is a sweetie.

Sammy has been an only dog for a long time, so she had a little trouble adjusting to having Wags around.  Although she won't admit it, I am fairly sure she is loving her foster sister now.

Proof in the smiles.

Wags is available for adoption through Red Collar Rescue and is so excited to find her forever home.  She has lots of love to share.

And she is happy to provide entertainment.

Silly girl.

I hope you had a fantastic weekend!!
