Weekend Recap

I did tons of yard work this weekend!  What a great workout, my arms are so sore!  Manual hedge trimmers for the win.  Besides a Friday dinner date with the husband and a trip to Michael's and Home Depot my weekend was all yard work, spring planting and taking pictures!!  I snapped some good ones of my Easter decorations.  Let's take a look.

Here is a revisit to the Easter mantel with a much better picture.  This collection is a mixture of items from well, everywhere.  The hurricanes on each end belonged to my parents and have spent many many years on this very mantel.  The small canvas of flowers also belonged to them, so it is from the same era.  I mostly said era to tease my mother.  Hi, mom.  :)  I believe they were all wedding gifts which dates them back to the late 60's.  My mom always had tapered candles in them, but I like to mix it up.

The W I picked up at Hobby Lobby a while back.  The bunnies on the right joined the Ema's Easter Decor Collection last year and I found them at Pier 1.

The bunny in the center is new to the party this year.  He came from the Lucky Rabbit in Hattiesburg, MS.  I love that place.

The eggs on the left I grabbed on sale at Pier 1 a couple of years ago.  And I just noticed my candle is crooked.  Awesome.

My coffee table has a large jar candle on it, so I put some pastel eggs in the bottom of it.

Watch out for cat laser eyes...they are dangerous.

This candle looks crooked, but in my defense it is burning unevenly, so this one is technically not my fault.  The fact that the candle holder is from Pier 1 might come as shock to you.  I hope you were sitting down.

In the dining room there are more bunnies.

On the left I have a long legged bunny that was my mom's.  He is not from the 60's.  He stands crooked, and I like it.  I have a theme working.  The bowl was my parents, I believe originally my grandmother's, so it is even older than the 60's.

On the opposite end, another bunny.  This one from Marshall's Home Goods from several years ago.

The flowers and the balls in the bowl are from Pier 1.  I sure hope you were sitting that time.

My last bit of Easter is on my breakfast room table.  This might be my favorite of all.

Tray (and coasters) from Willow House, bunny from Pier 1, bird from Trees and Trends (Hattiesburg, MS), candle and holder from Target, vase from Crate and Barrel, and the eggs from Hobby Lobby.

Yes, this is my favorite Easter grouping.  I am sure of it now.

Tomorrow on the blog...flowers!  Along with a tour of my patio decked out for spring.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Insta-Friday

It has been an interesting and weird week, but hey it's Friday...so let's celebrate!  Let's start with spring!!

This was on my daily calendar on the first day of spring, and I think it is perfect.  I approve, Mary Engelbreit.

My daisies were confused this winter, since we had so many freezing cold days, they spent lots of time on my heated sun porch and every now and then a flower would bloom.  Well, I think they know it is officially spring now...

...well done, daisies.  I needed your bright yellow-ness this week.

At home other than flowers blooming, I did some decorating with some fun new items I picked up last weekend.

I love this space at the end of my hallway so much now.  You can see all my items in my Weekly Finds post.

In dog news, Rumba blogged for me on Wednesday.

And one of my previous guest bloggers, Novella was featured in my Pupdates because she is out of the kennel and in a loving foster home now!  I'm so happy for this sweet girl!

Both of these sweeties are available for adoption through Red Collar Rescue.  In fact, if you are in the Houston area you have the opportunity to meet these girls tomorrow at the Adoption Meet and Greet at Petmart (1907 Taylor St.).

I did a long awaited french manicure on myself this week.

Long awaited because my nails have been so short there was no point in even trying.  Now they are a respectable length to try and pull one off.  I used Essie blanc and allure with OPI top and base coats.  It has lasted almost the entire week!

If you care to keep up with my weekly happenings, you can follow me on Instagram.  I am of course linking up my exciting week with the wonderful Jeannett at Life Rearranged.

Keeping with the spring theme...I have plans of working in my yard and planting flowers this weekend.  I hope you have equally exciting plans.

One last Insta before I go...

Sammy and her octopus.

Enjoy your weekend!

Rumba

**PUPDATE!!  Rumba has found her forever home!!!**

It's that time of the week again!  My guest blogger had a home once, but it was with an owner who collected animals and that home got over crowded.  Her owner took her and 4 other babies to the pound to be euthanized.  Red Collar Rescue brought all of them into their program and somehow these this cutie is still waiting for her forever family to find her.  Good things come to those who wait, right?  I sure hope so.  This gal has waited long enough!  And so have you...meet Rumba!

Yes, um, hi, um, excuse me.  My name is Rumba and um, I am kind of a shy little girl, but my heart is made of gold.  I don't think it's really made of gold, but I think that's what humans say when dogs are real sweet.

I might just be the sweetest lil baby you ever meet.  I am little, 25 pounds, but I'm not a baby anymore.  I'm already two whole years old.

It was really scary to have a home and then not have one.  Things worked out really well for me though because the volunteers at Red Collar Rescue are taking such good care of me.  I'm in a loving foster home now and it's way better than my old house.  It will be really cool to have a forever home.  I am looking everywhere for one.

My hobbies are running, and playing, and cuddling.  Those are my very favorite things.  If you like to do those things too, I would love to make your acquaintance.  If you had space at your house for me or even me that would be really cool.  I've been dreaming about you for a long time!

Don't you want to be my hero?  You think about it.  I will wait here while being super cute (I am REALLY good at that).

If you would like to meet Rumba, email Red Collar Rescue at info@redcollar.org.  This girl is ready for her forever home and we would all love it if that was your house!
