Burning the Evening Oil

I am working late tonight, we are patching one of our databases, but that doesn't mean that there isn't fun being had.  I am doing a little of this while I wait for computers to need me.

I am almost finished with The Help and I must admit I will be a little sad when I am done.  It is such a great book!

And I decorated!  Well, okay...decorated is a strong word...I got out my two office pumpkins and changed the ribbon on my wreath.  Yes, I am the only one in the IT office with a wreath on their door.  I am okay with it.

Festive
Got this one last season on clearance.  Love it.

Spooky
I also brought a snack in case I get the munchies.

I hope your Friday evening is just as exciting as mine.  Okay, I hope it is a little more exciting than mine.  :)

Happy Hump Day!

Yesterday was that kind of work day and I am so happy to be that much closer to the weekend!  My schedule has been crazy with a software implementation and the trouble shooting is starting to exhaust me.  Enter the Mexican mojito.

In this light cocktail, Jose Cuervo is a friend of mine!
This is a cocktail my friend Rebecca lightened up the recipe for and it is a winner!  You take lots of fresh mint, lime juice and splenda and muddle that together, then add a shot of tequila, more lime juice and grapefruit La Croix sparkling water, stir and enjoy!  And boy did I enjoy this low calorie cocktail after my frustrating day.

We made a Mexican inspired healthy dinner to go with our mojitos too.  We stir fried bell pepper, onion and mushroom in cooking spray and seasoned with garlic powder and little salt and served that as a side to chicken tenders seasoned with fajita seasoning then baked under tomatillo salsa.  Delicious!

This morning I slept in instead of my morning walk.  Extra rest is good for you right?  I did hit the gym at lunch, so I got a workout in...this week is going very well!  I cannot complain.

The pen color today is also a winner...turquoise!

And now back to the important things. :)

Mmmmm...
Make this cocktail...you won't complain either!  What is your favorite low calorie cocktail?

So Many Things, So Little Time

Do you ever feel like you are being pulled in a gazillion directions at once?  That is how I am feeling right now.  It seems to have invaded my work and personal life right now.

Without going into details about work (since I would hate to bore you), I feel like everyone wants something from me right now.  It is how I would imagine a teacher of young children would feel when all the students need attention at the same time.

My niece and my husband.
In my personal life I am also busy busy.  This month I have a niece taking her first communion, so I will be traveling to Mississippi for that event.  I also have friends getting married at the end of the month, so I have a bridal shower this weekend and then their wedding festivities on Memorial Day weekend, complete with bachelor/bachelorette party and post wedding BBQ.  Should be a fun weekend!  And don't get me started on Mother's Day!  It got here too quickly!

In addition to all my weekend plans I have made the awesome decision to hit the gym with my husband in the evenings.  My usual schedule is to get cardio in on my lunch hour so I'm adding strength training in the gym 3 evenings a week.  This is awesome, and a top priority.  I refer to it as our gym date.  However, it is taking away from dinner prep time...so that is making the evenings a little more chaotic.  Daniel and I agreed that we would spend time in the kitchen on Sunday evening to prep things for the week, so the nights we have our gym dates we have quick, healthy dinner choices.  I am liking this plan.  This Sunday I will be adding dinner preps to our Sunday ritual...I have already been doing breakfast and lunch prep, so I think I can handle this.

Anyone else out there feel like they spread themselves thin sometimes?  How do you juggle busy schedules?

Upgrade Weekend

We did an upgrade the first weekend in April at work.  I won't bore you will all the details, but I do blame it for my lack of blogging lately...it is a lot of work leading up to an upgrade weekend and a lot of work afterward.  We did 3 total upgrades over the weekend which means it was long hours and craziness!  I came to work on Friday, April 1 (no foolin') at 4 pm and worked until 3 in the morning on Saturday the 2nd.  I came back to work at 3 pm on the same day and worked until midnight-ish.  Then I was back at 8 am on Sunday morning, worked until the afternoon and came in at 7:30ish on Monday morning prepared to do some installs and put out fires.  It was a whirlwind!  And by the time my 11 day work week and the upgrade were over I was SO ready for one of these.  Okay, I'll be honest...a few of them!
