At Home Vacation Continues

We had a fabulous 4th of July.  Rebecca had us over for food and fun.

Orzo Salad, Slaw and Watermelon
Sliders with carmelized onions and cheddar, provolone or pepper jack cheese!
The plates and napkins looked like they had fireworks on them.
We had a great time!  We didn't leave Rebecca's house until fireworks time.  We saw a few from the downtown show on the way home.  When we got home the Miller Outdoor Theater fireworks started.  I had no idea they would be that late, they didn't start until a little after 10:00, or we would have walked over there to see them in person.  As it turned out we had a partial view from our deck.  It was kind of nice to watch them in my PJs.  Sammy did not enjoy the show.  She found it terrifying.

"I love the USA, but I do not like fireworks."
Yesterday, Rebecca and I went and got manicures and pedicures.  She is on a stay at home vacation too.  Afterwards we went to Marshall's Home Goods and I got some more cute things for the house.  I am trying to perfect my decor for the hall table.  I am not there yet, but here's my latest attempt.

Thoughts?
Today the husband and I are headed out for a couples massage.  YAY!  Happy Friday to everyone!  Have a fabulous day and weekend!!

Happy 4th!!

Today is day two of our at home vacation. Yes, our offices are closed today, but it's still part of our vacation, plus we can go see fireworks tonight & sleep in tomorrow. Bonus.

Last night we spent the evening playing cards. I noticed our cards smell great. I keep them in a cabinet that also contains my candle drawer. Yes, I have a candle drawer. Doesn't everyone? Anyway our cards smell just like the candle drawer. It's nice.

At Home Vacation

This is morning number one of our at home vacation. I must admit it is pretty awesome. There is something relaxing about being at your house with nothing at all you HAVE to do. I could get used to this.

Sammy could too.

Weekend Recap

Our Friday dinner party at Rebecca's was a lot of fun.  The cocktails were delicious!  We made an adaptation of Weight Watchers Raspberry Lemonade Vodka Slushies.

Here is our adapted recipe:

  • 6 cups Crystal Light raspberry lemonade (or light drink mix of your choice)
  • 8 oz La Croix sparkling water - lime flavor (or sparkling water of your choice)
  • 8 oz vodka
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 6 oz raspberries
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves
Prepare Crystal Light with water and pour into ice trays and freeze until solid.  To prepare drinks add one ice tray full of raspberry lemonade ice cubes, 1/2 sparkling water, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup vodka to blender and blend until smooth.  This recipe makes 8 cocktails...each blender full is 4 servings.

Each of our glasses pictured contained two servings...it was that kind of week (lol).  We had extra raspberries and we added them to the last blender of cocktails...it was delicious and made the color a much brighter pink.

For dinner Rebecca made Skinny Taste's Crock Pot Chicken Cacciatore. It was delicious.

And salad!

We had a very nice evening at Rebecca's.  Look at these awesome lights she got for her backyard.

Saturday I went shopping with my sis-in-law and found this cute vase as the beginning of my hall table decorations.

Saturday we watched the soccer game...man did Italy get run over by Spain.  Spain played awesome.  Unfortunately I had bet the husband that Italy would win so I owed him 15 bucks.  Oh, well...it was the 15 bucks I had already won from him betting 5 bucks a game on other play off matches.

I hope you had a great weekend!  This Monday is my Monday and Friday...starting tomorrow...stay-cation!  Wheee!!!  Have a great day!
