Weekend Recap

Hello friends!  I had a fun and creative weekend.  I almost don't know where to start.

I picked up a three dollar frame at Wal-Mart...

...that I turned into this.

This was the last piece I needed to finish my patriotic mantel.  I love it.  If you're interested in seeing the full mantel, come visit me on Wednesday, I'll be revealing the it then.

I finished sorting through pictures that I found hidden in the garage when we cleaned out a couple of weeks ago.  I came across this treasure.

This is a picture of my dad and my sister circa 1970.  I had never seen this picture before.  Love.

Sunday we had an impromptu barbecue and look at my cutest guests!

My nephew and niece joined us for an indoor picnic.  Indoor picnics rock in Houston in the summer time.

This little beauty...

...made this beautiful work of art on my new pantry door chalkboard.

I knew my favorite kiddos would love this.  I scored super aunt points.

This beauty also arrived over the weekend.

I had been wanting to order something like this for almost 5 years and I finally did it!  More details on where I picked it up and some other items in my Weekly Finds post tomorrow.

I hope you had a fantastic weekend!!!  Enjoy your week.

Weekend Recap

I had a very fun and creative weekend.  It started out on Friday night at the House of Blues.  The husband and I went on a date to see B.B. King.

Me and the husband.
B.B. King with Billy Gibbons

It was awesome.  It was like being invited to hang out while he had a little jam session.  He played some songs, told lots of stories, and interacted with the crowd.  I'm so glad we went.  Plus the environment was conducive to making friends.

AK and Joey, our new friends.

Saturday we went over to the sister-in-law's house to celebrate our niece Leslie's 5th birthday.

Leslie and her brother

I had fun putting together Leslie's present.  She loves Hello Kitty and I got a bunch of stuff from Michael's and put it together in this reusable shopping bag and tied a flower on it.

I almost wanted to keep it for myself.  I wish I could say that I made her birthday cake since it was very cute too.

Happy Birthday Leslie!!!

On Sunday we took down our Christmas decorations and I put up Valentine's day.

I'm not going to lie, I want some heart garland for my mantle.  Where can I find that?

Sunday afternoon I got busy painting onsies.  You might remember my friend Liz from this post.

I went to Florida to visit her and attend her baby shower.  Well, her twin boys are here!

Liz with William and Daniel.

They have actually been here a little while, they were born before Christmas and on Sunday I painted them some onsies.

Their last name is Hartman so I was making a cool heart-man design.  :)

I found this stamp foam and I used one of my Valentine's Day coasters as a stencil.

Resourceful.
Cute.

I just have a couple of finishing touches and touch ups to add tonight and then they are all set!

Why are weekends so short?  This weekend flew by.  I hope you had a great weekend too!

Weekend Recap

I had a wonderful weekend!  Friday night we went to dinner for the husband's birthday and then drove through the neighborhood and enjoyed all the beautiful Christmas lights.

The husband's birthday was actually on Saturday so he opted to wait to open his present until the morning.  Sammy loves watching her dad open presents.

I think she was hoping something would be for her.

During the day on Saturday we had Christmas lunch with the husband's mom, sister and our niece and nephew.  I was excited to set a pretty Christmas table.

I chose some of my grandmother's dishes with the green edges to go with my red place mats.

I think it turned out well.  I just wish I had put the plates on the chargers for this picture.  Next time.  :)

The husband and I served beef tender with roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes.  The sister-in-law brought petits fours from the fabulous Moeller's Bakery.  Yum.

They looked pretty one one of my grandmother's trays.

The kiddos got to open their Christmas presents from the husband and me.  We will be with my family in Mississippi on Christmas morning this year, so this was our Christmas morning with them.  I scored cool aunt points by picking out clothes that both kids were excited about.  Go me.

Jett said he is not going anywhere without this vest.  Good thing it is reversible.

Pretty in pink!

We also gave the kids the game Headbandz.  They loved it.

On Sunday the husband and I got massages and vegged out in front of football and A Charlie Brown Christmas.  We watch the DVD every year on the husband's birthday.

This week is going to be packed with work and celebration.  I can't believe Christmas is only a week away.  How did that happen!?

I hope you have a fantastic week!!

Weekend Recap

I had a fairly relaxing three day weekend!  I should be happier and more refreshed on this Monday morning, but to be honest I am kind of dragging.  Sigh.  Maybe remembering the weekend will help energize me.  Worth a try anyway, right?

Friday was kind of boring.  I had a doctor's appointment in the morning and the afternoon was pretty much uneventful.  We stayed in Friday evening and watched Revenge on Netflix.  Do you watch that show?  It is pretty darn good.

Saturday morning the husband and I enjoyed coffee on the deck.  The fall flowers I planted make the deck so inviting.  I love the mums in this cool pot.

They are in full bloom now and look amazing.

These blue eyed rivieras are so pretty.

I have never grown them before, but I am so happy I have given them a try.  They make me smile.

After coffee the husband and I met the sister-in-law and niece and nephew at the St. Luke's pumpkin patch.

Precious.

Gotta love cute kiddos sitting on pumpkins.

The husband found me this pumpkin.

It's teeny, I love it.  I joked that it was my car decoration, then took a picture of it and then realized I really need to dust my car.

Saturday also resulted in the acquiring of these Halloween critters.

Have I mentioned I love Pier 1?

Sunday the husband smoked a pork shoulder and made, yes made, jalapeno cheese buns.

The result...pretty amazing pulled pork sandwiches.

Now if the Texans had won last night that would have been awesome.  Oh, well 5-1 is still pretty darn great!

How was your weekend?

Sammy's was lazy.

Insta-Friday #4

This week was gorgeous.  Monday night we went to dinner at the Raven Grill, one of our favorite restaurants with an awesome patio.  We had dinner out there with Augustine the chicken.

Augustine lives at the Raven and is very friendly.  They have a lovely patio with a kind of side yard.  There was a couple there that had never been to the Raven and the lady was very offended that there was a chicken on the patio.  I am thinking Augustine is probably cleaner than a pigeon on a patio, but that's just me.  It wasn't like she was inside the restaurant.

That night there was an awesome moon out.

I have decided I am kind of addicted to the ginger flavored cat cookies from Trader Joe's.  They are for people.  Says so on the package.

I found this cool air freshener in a friend's office this week.  Awesome.

Weird I would like a daisy, right?

I unloaded my Halloween decorations and I found this Halloween card from several years ago with my niece and nephew on it.  So cute.

I hope your week has been fantastic!!  Have a wonderful weekend!
