Weekend Recap

I had a very productive weekend and it was great!

I knocked out some projects I had been wanting to do around the house.  First I painted the inside of our pantry door with chalkboard paint.

I am so happy with how it turned out!  I picked up colored chalk (duh, of course) and started using it as soon as it was dry.

One tip for you when working with chalkboard paint, be sure to condition your chalkboard before using it.  Take a piece of chalk and use the side of it flat against the board and cover the entire thing with chalk, then erase.  Then you are ready to use your board.

And yes, I did draw a picture of my dog on the bottom part.  Looks just like her doesn't it?

I thought so too.

I had been wanting a patriotic wreath for my front door.  The summer begins with Memorial Day, ends with Labor Day and has the Fourth of July in the middle; it's the perfect time for some stars and stripes.

For my front door wreath I picked up a grapevine wreath, wired ribbon and a W from Michael's.  I painted my W red and attached it to the ribbon with thumb tacks.  Ta-da.

I really like it.  I also happened to pick up a couple of smaller grapevine wreaths for my patio and driveway door.

I don't think you can ever be too patriotic.  Michael's had the stars on the left wreath on sale for 4 bucks, the stars on the right were $2.99 each and had the Welcome, America and Freedom tags attached to them.  I am pleased with all my wreaths.  :)

The husband and I have an anniversary coming up.  We did a little shopping for his present this weekend.

A custom made barbecue pit.  The husband has been wanting one for a very long time.

I hope he gets one.  Lol.

I hope you had a fun and productive weekend as well!!

Have a fantastic week!

Weekend Recap

My weekend can be summed up in one sentence, "Oh, my goodness; look at all this junk."

We cleaned out the garage at our house this weekend.  For those of you that are new to the blog...a little background....the husband and I moved in to the home that I grew up in last year and with it came a garage and attic already full of years of history, treasures, and well junk.

We will still be working on this project next weekend, but this weekend we successfully got the treasures separated from the junk, from the items for donation, and from the items for sale.  I tried most of the weekend to take deep breaths and concentrate on the treasures.

We found my mom's now vintage Schwinn bicycle that I can remember riding on the back of in a toddler seat. This bike will be off to Hattiesburg to hang in my sister and brother-in-law's restaurant/bar.  We also came across my great grandfather's high chair and my grandfather's lawn mower.  Pretty neat.  We haven't decided what to do with the high chair and lawn mower yet, but still cool finds.

The husband focused on the fact that he got to make a trip to his happy place.

We made a purchase of shelves and storage bins for the garage at Home Depot.  The husband is also happy that he can now walk in the garage and knows where all of his tools are.

Amongst the treasures, I came across two boxes full of goodies that my grandparents packed up when they moved back in 1986 that had never been opened.  Those will be the stars of tomorrow's Weekly Finds...some of those treasures have already taken their place in my home.

And...happy birthday to my awesome mom today.

We love you lots!

I hope your weekend was more relaxing, but just as productive as mine.

Weekend Recap

We are back from Italy and mostly back in the swing of everyday life.  It is good to be home...I missed you guys!

My weekend was fairly boring, a lot of around the house stuff, so instead of boring you with that I thought I would bombard you with vacation pictures...my fave ones captured by my phone.  The pictures from the actual camera are not edited and ready, but will be coming soon along with reviews of our hotels and tours.

And now...phone pictures!

Venice

Florence

Volterra

Pisa

The Vatican

Rome

It is possible that it was a mistake to do this post on a Monday because now I really wish I was still on vacation!

I hope you have a fantastic Monday and your week ahead treats you well.

Weekend Recap

It was a gorgeous weekend here in Houston!  I spent a lot of time outside and it was fabulous.

I was happy I snapped a picture of my potted herbs right after I planted them, I am amazed how much they have grown!

The husband hung my hummingbird feeder.  I hope we get some visitors.  That would be really cool.

This weekend was full of birthdays.  I love April.

This amazing lady and I share a birthday.

Happy Birthday to us!!  4/11 twins!

Sunday was this beautiful lady's birthday.

Happy Birthday Liz!!  I miss you tons!

And today is this fantastic gal's birthday.

Happy Birthday Lou!!!  Love you lots!

It is pretty cool to have a birthday so close to some of the most amazing friends.  It is fun to celebrate all of our awesomeness at the same time.

In other news...I received fun pictures from the sister in Mississippi this weekend.  The baby MS niece, Chelsie had a movie star birthday party to attend.

Here she is rocking the red brick patio...a kiddo's version of the red carpet.

This picture of my oldest niece melts my heart.

I love this beautiful kid...who is quickly becoming an amazing young lady.

Tomorrow on the blog in my Weekly Finds I will reveal what I did with the spray paint I found in my garage. Update...Wednesday on the blog.

It turned into some pretty awesome patio updates.

I hope you had a fantastic weekend!
