Weekend Recap

We had a super fun weekend with friends and family in and around Austin!  The hill country is beautiful this time of year with wild flowers blooming everywhere.  Shocking that I love the wildflowers, I know.  The reason for our trip was the wedding of our friends David and Aerin.

The happy couple.

I will share lots of pictures and details about their wedding on Thursday's blog post, so be sure to stop back by the blog then.

While we were in Austin, the husband wanted to visit the Austin Homebrew Supply.  Even though I don't brew beer, I have to say it was a cool place to visit.

If you prefer to make wine, they can help you with that also.  Cheese to pair with your wine?  Yep, they have you covered there too.

Austin Homebrew has the dry ingredients for beer ready for weighing and packaging for your special recipe.  Their staff is also available to answer all your questions.

Daniel picked up a couple of items and I picked up this sticker for his brew station since I am always decorating.

You are welcome!

We had delicious Mexican food at Polvos on Saturday.  I had never heard of potato flautas, so I had to order them.  They were delicious as were the margaritas.

Saturday evening was the wedding and we all had a great time.

The husband and me with bluebonnets during cocktail hour after the ceremony.

Kasey and me decked out.

Sunday the husband and I headed to Palmetto State Park to have lunch with family.  In case you were wondering why it is named after the palmetto, wonder no more.

The hiking trails are pretty much cut through the palmettos.  We had a gorgeous day for hiking and lunching outdoors.

My cousin Beth and me.

Beth served up brisket, sausage, grilled veggies and salad.  Yummy.  And then we walked it all off through the park.

So pretty.  It was a fantastic weekend.

I hope you had a great one too!

Weekend Recap

Last Friday was the husband and my five year anniversary, so the husband and I (and Sammy) took a little road trip for a weekend in Austin.  We booked our weekend in the Austin Vacation House.

What is so special about this quaint little guest house?  A lot.

I don't know about you, but in the past when we have rented vacation homes you have had to bring everything with you (hand soap, paper towels, coffee, etc.).  Well, this house is lovingly and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need to have a carefree weekend.

Yes, you need to bring any food you want to cook, but should you need salt or ketchup this vacation house has you covered.

They even have umbrellas by the door.  See, thoughtful.  AND they are pet friendly.  However, I don't know if we can ever take Sammy again.  She just couldn't settle in and get comfortable.

Okay, I lied.  She totally made herself at home.

What did we do all weekend?

We hung out in our private pool and hot tub.  Oh, did I not mention that the house comes with a pool?  Silly me.

Best anniversary weekend ever.  We will definitely be staying here in Austin again.  Loved it.

We did venture out of our pool a little bit.  Our favorite breakfast place that we visited was Austin Java.

Super cute place, wonderful food, and great coffee.  Yes, please.  Poor Sammy had to stay home though.

"Mom, you lied again.  You're funny!"

At least I amuse myself and Sammy.  Austin is such a great, relaxed town that loves animals.  Yep, Sammy joined us for breakfast and she appreciated the shade, water bowls and small bite of bacon I saved her.

It was a fantastic weekend.

So cute.

I am ready to go back.

"Me too."

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was fabulous and I am exhausted!!  If I am so exhausted from our Austin road trip, you bet the husband is 100 times more exhausted.

Daniel rode his bike there.  Wow.  Just a little weekend ride of over 150 miles...no big deal.

Okay, it was a big deal.  He road as part of the SM Energy team in the BP MS 150 which helps raise money for the MS Society to fund research for a cure for multiple sclerosis.  If that's not big enough, this ride had also been on Daniel's bucket list for a long time.  Check.  I am so proud of him.

I have family and friends that battle this disease.  It is touching how many people donate, ride and come out for this event.

Great looking team, right?

It all started around 5 AM on Saturday.  Coffee?  Yes, please.

We gathered at the office near one of the start lines for the ride and loaded up all our riders.

And then they were off...

Love that guy.

Some of the volunteers for their team followed with them and camped in La Grange at the halfway point.  I headed straight to Austin to hang out with family and friends.  I met them back at the finish line.

Congrats to all the riders that rode over the weekend.  I hope you are resting well this week!
