Weekend Recap

We had a super fun weekend with friends and family in and around Austin!  The hill country is beautiful this time of year with wild flowers blooming everywhere.  Shocking that I love the wildflowers, I know.  The reason for our trip was the wedding of our friends David and Aerin.

The happy couple.

I will share lots of pictures and details about their wedding on Thursday's blog post, so be sure to stop back by the blog then.

While we were in Austin, the husband wanted to visit the Austin Homebrew Supply.  Even though I don't brew beer, I have to say it was a cool place to visit.

If you prefer to make wine, they can help you with that also.  Cheese to pair with your wine?  Yep, they have you covered there too.

Austin Homebrew has the dry ingredients for beer ready for weighing and packaging for your special recipe.  Their staff is also available to answer all your questions.

Daniel picked up a couple of items and I picked up this sticker for his brew station since I am always decorating.

You are welcome!

We had delicious Mexican food at Polvos on Saturday.  I had never heard of potato flautas, so I had to order them.  They were delicious as were the margaritas.

The gang

Saturday evening was the wedding and we all had a great time.

The husband and me with bluebonnets during cocktail hour after the ceremony.

Kasey and me decked out.

Sunday the husband and I headed to Palmetto State Park to have lunch with family.  In case you were wondering why it is named after the palmetto, wonder no more.

The hiking trails are pretty much cut through the palmettos.  We had a gorgeous day for hiking and lunching outdoors.

My cousin Beth and me.

Beth served up brisket, sausage, grilled veggies and salad.  Yummy.  And then we walked it all off through the park.

So pretty.  It was a fantastic weekend.

I hope you had a great one too!

Insta-Friday

Oh, it is one of my favorite days of the week.  It is Friday and it is also Friday Funday (I only work a half day today).  If that were not enough, it is also Insta-Friday.  Let's check out the week via my Instagram feed.

I was all about spring this week.  My deck and patio are ready for the season and I just enjoy being out there taking in my hard work.

I love these English daisies.  These were a very exciting discovery for this daisy lover.  I had never seen these before.  I just planted the majority of my plants last weekend and this week I can already see that they've gotten bigger!  I love spring.

If you'd like a full tour of my outdoor spring space, check out my Weekly Finds post.

The inside of my house has not been forgotten.  It is decked out for Easter.

I am still trying to decide where these cute burlap flowers are going to land.

I think a lucky lampshade might get embellished.

The guest blogger this week was Arya.  Look at that sweet girl!  She's looking for her forever home.  Do you happen to know someone who is looking for her?

I couldn't help, but share this one.

It is mostly true.  A couple of things missing from the list, but it's a good start.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Arya

**PUPDATE!! Arya has found her forever home! **

It's my day off!  The guest blogger today is a spunky spaniel and chow mix.  Take it away Arya!

HI!  I'm Arya.  Let's play.  I can be a little shy at first, so I might want to give you a sniff, but I do love to play.  I can hold my own with all my buddies, so if you have another dog in your life that's a-okay with me.  I want to play with them too!

I'm still a pup, under a year old, but I already know a lot of my commands.  Look at me doing my down.  I am a pro.  And that's not all, I am already potty trained.  How 'bout that?

My foster mom says I get along great with my 3 foster siblings and I even wait my turn for treats.  I'll tell you, treats are worth waiting for, those things are delicious.  She also says I am a sweet sweet girl, but I know you could already tell that just by lookin' at me.

This outside thing is awesome.  I love to explore and take in, well everything.  Fresh air, a roll in the grass, taking off after a toy...you name it.  I love it.  I guess you could say I am an easy going agreeable girl.  I'll be happy to be with you doing anything you want...just name it.

So if you are looking for 35 lbs of pure love, I gotcha covered.  Come meet me, let me give you a sniff, and I'll be your best friend forever!

She's not kidding.  If you'd like to meet Arya, email Red Collar Rescue at info@redcollar.org.  You'll fall in love.  I promise.

Weekly Finds

In a word...flowers.

I suppose the word plants would be more accurate since I did plant some herbs and veggies also.  I am excited to have my patio and deck planted for spring and I loved sitting out there Saturday evening and Sunday morning enjoying all my hard work.  Here is a little tour for you.

This is a view from the sun porch door out on to the deck.  Things that are on my list still...have the husband move the fire pit back to the garage and replace the two chairs on the right side of the picture.  I want to finish the space out with two more chairs like the ones on the left.

Here is the view looking back toward the house.  The empty stand in the front of the picture had one of those pretty glass balls in it.

A clumsy girl with 4 legs broke it last weekend, but she is cute, so we will let her stay.  My yard work is on going so you might notice a weed or a pile of clippings that need to be disposed of.

By my back door I have this cool new to me pot.  I came across it in my garage last summer and thought it would be great for a mixed planting.

In the mix: oregano, hen and chicks, stonecrop (which will flower yellow), and mint.  Helpful tip for herb labels (for spaces that will not be rained on)...make your tags on sturdy paper with a sharpy and stash them into plants on a clothespin.  I used scrap book paper for mine.

Next to the back door above this pot is my wind chime bell that my mom gave me for Christmas.  I love it.

The seating area facing the house has the cozy chairs and a coffee table.

On the coffee table are rosemary, gerbera daisies, and English daisies.

I have never grown the English daisies before.  They are new to me, I love them.

The bottom level of the table has a tray of old gardening tools and other odds and ends that I found in the garage.  Finding treasures that I don't know I have never gets old.

The table opposite the coffee table has petunias on it and gerbera daisies beside it.

I came across the bird cage on clearance at Hobby Lobby.  I think is is a cute addition.

My plant stand is full of daisies, yellow erysimums, and hen and chicks.

Oh, yes.  I am happy spring has sprung.  I am ready for a happy hour glass of wine on the deck this evening.

Sammy approves.
